About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs the organization's financial operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit financial management best practices. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO is responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and oversight of all financial activities. This position reports directly to the President & CEO.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
Ten to fifteen (10-15) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Treasury, investment management, and contract management experience required.
Knowledge of fund accounting, endowed, and restricted funds.
Strategic, forward-thinking leader with the highest ethical standards, professional integrity, and business acumen.
Strong financial, analytical, operational, and problem-solving expertise with sound judgment and decision-making ability.
Highly organized, self-directed, and collaborative executive who thrives in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree (MA), MBA, or equivalent preferred.
CPA or demonstrated equivalent knowledge level in accounting.
Mix of non-profit and corporate experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead the organization's financial planning, operations, performance, and fiscal management.
Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and associated general ledger reconciliations.
Manage the annual budget process and board approval.
Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of long-range planning, new programs/strategies, and regulatory action.
Deliver timely financial analysis and insights to support executive and board decision-making.
Oversee the government grants compliance function, ensuring organizational adherence to grant requirements and accountability for the annual single audit and Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA) preparation.
Lead continuous improvement of the budgeting process by educating budget owners and optimizing budget software.
Direct treasury management activities, including banking relationships and liquidity.
Manage cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process.
Provide financial counsel on contracts and agreements entered into by BGCMA.
Evaluate the finance team structure and plan for continuous improvement.
Participate in BGCMA Board meetings.
Manage BGCMA Investment and Budget & Finance Committees.
Lead Investment and Budget & Finance Committee activities, including reporting, approvals, and action plan implementation.
Lead and develop the finance team through strategic talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
Foster a culture of collaboration and inclusion and ensure staff accountability.
