The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides leadership and direction to all financial departments for the overall fiscal responsibility of the hospital. This role administers the general accounting, patient business services, including third party reimbursement, financial, and statistical reporting functions of the hospital in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures. The CFO also provides direction in data processing, distributed systems, material management and medical records functions, trains subordinates, and monitors performance. Additionally, the CFO assists the CEO in developing long and short-range hospital operations plans, develops operational and capital budgets, prepares cash flow and budget variance analyses, and monitors financial performance. The role identifies and reports undesirable trends and potential business opportunities, directs the preparation of internal financial reports, and assures timely and accurate financial reporting. The CFO takes a lead role in analyzing and exploring cost reduction and revenue enhancement strategies and is responsible for the timely submission of all financial data and reports required by government and other regulated agencies.
