About The Position

East Adams Rural Healthcare is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join its leadership team in Ritzville, Washington. Requirements

  • Significant financial leadership experience specifically within a Critical Access Hospital or small rural hospital environment.
  • Previous CFO-level or equivalent leadership experience in a Critical Access Hospital.
  • At least five years of progressive healthcare financial or accounting management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Critical Access Hospital finance.
  • Demonstrated revenue cycle experience with a track record of improvement and success.
  • Experience in a nonprofit healthcare environment.
  • Experience working directly with executive leadership and governing boards.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic planning skills.
  • Understanding of payer contracting and healthcare reimbursement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across departments and explain complex financial matters clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and hands-on financial leadership across the organization, reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a member of the District Leadership Team.
  • Oversee financial operations including accounting and financial reporting, budgeting and long-range financial planning, revenue cycle oversight, billing, payroll and accounts payable, treasury functions, payer contracting and contract review, capital planning, RFPs, and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Patient Navigator and Care Coordination teams.
  • Oversee departmental budgeting and expense management.
  • Handle audits, tax-related matters, and financial controls.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, CNO, COO, department leaders, medical staff, and Board of Directors to ensure financial strength and community needs are met.
  • Translate financial information into actionable decisions.
  • Identify opportunities, strengthen revenue, control costs, evaluate new services, and assist leadership in responsible future planning.
  • Regularly interact with and present to the Board of Directors.
  • Participate in operational and administrative leadership meetings.
  • Provide financial guidance throughout the organization.
  • Evaluate new programs and services.
  • Negotiate contracts.
  • Identify opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Contribute to building a sustainable future for rural healthcare in the region.
