About The Position

Stonewall County Hospital District is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and growth-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive leadership team. The CFO is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the district, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, revenue cycle management, compliance, financial planning, and organizational growth initiatives. This position plays a critical role in supporting the financial health and long-term success of our rural healthcare organization while ensuring quality services for the communities we serve.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Texas.
  • Must successfully complete required pre-employment screenings.
  • Must be available for Board meetings, audits, community events, and occasional business activities outside normal working hours.
  • Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to rural healthcare.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Five (5) years or more of leadership experience in finance, accounting, healthcare administration, business management, or executive leadership.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of healthcare finance, Medicare, Medicaid, reimbursement, revenue cycle management, and medical billing.
  • Experience with Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, or healthcare operations.
  • Grant management and financial development experience.
  • Supervisory and team leadership experience.
  • Business ownership or executive leadership experience with demonstrated financial growth and operational success.
  • Healthcare business owners and operators with a proven history of financial growth and organizational leadership are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP)

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial leadership and strategic guidance to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Direct budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Oversee accounting operations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and internal controls.
  • Monitor financial performance and recommend strategies to improve efficiency and sustainability.
  • Oversee revenue cycle operations, reimbursement, billing, and collections.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and healthcare financial regulations.
  • Coordinate audits, financial statements, and regulatory reporting.
  • Support grant funding opportunities and financial development initiatives.
  • Lead and develop finance, business office, and billing personnel.
  • Participate in strategic planning, organizational development, and growth initiatives.
