About The Position

The Chief Engineer manages the general maintenance of the hotel including mechanicals, electrical, plumbing, exterior and interior finishing, FF& E, and information systems. Provides exceptional level of service to clients, hotel guests, and hotel team members.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read & write in English, perform mathematical computations such as adding, multiplying.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests, utilizing tact & diplomacy and solve practical problems.
  • General Skills: knowledge and experience of general carpentry, exterior finishing, interior finishing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, FF&E, landscaping, and information systems technology.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move heavy objects such as tables and cases of food and beverages.
  • Must be able to focus on the job while staying on their feet and moving about freely, which can include bending, climbing stairs and carrying items weighing 25-50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an efficient physical plant preventive maintenance schedule for the following times: daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly.
  • Maintain an efficient electronic and hardcopy filing system of the preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain an efficient schedule for routine city, state, and federal inspections, and maintain a file system for all inspections with all compliant and non-compliant actions.
  • Maintain an efficient emergency action plan.
  • Maintain an efficient filing system for maintenance of MSDS.
  • Maintain safety protocols in compliance with NC OSHA.
  • Maintain an efficient inventory control system of general maintenance supplies and tools.
  • Maintain an efficient budget control system.
  • Maintain an efficient filing system for all supplier and contractor contacts including emergency contacts.
  • Maintain an efficient hire and release protocol.
  • Maintain an efficient training schedule for engineering technicians to perform routine preventive maintenance (see Hilton’s Maintenance Muscle video and manual).
  • Maintain an efficient tracking system of work orders.
  • Maintain an efficient communication and logistic protocol for all work to be performed that directly affects other departments.
  • Support staff by providing assistance in technical or labor-intensive projects as well as providing the necessary tools to complete the job.
  • Schedule contractors outside of the scope of preventive maintenance.
