Chief Engineer (Hotel Maintenance)

About The Position

The Chief Engineer manages general and preventative maintenance functions to ensure guest service and sustainability standards are achieved and maintained throughout the hotel. The role leads and supports associates, oversees vendor and project work, performs and supervises technical repairs, maintains equipment and life safety systems, and ensures compliance with applicable codes and safety standards. The work schedule varies and may include holidays, weekends, or alternate shifts.

Requirements

Previous supervisory engineer or maintenance experience, or equivalent training, is required.
HVAC certification is required.
Other certifications may be required based on local needs.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma and/or trade school coursework in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates to ensure they perform in accordance with brand standards and HHM core values.
Manage and coordinate bids, quotes, and contracts for third-party vendors.
Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and report on work progress.
Perform and oversee repairs such as sheetrock repair, painting, furniture refinishing, and replacement of electrical and plumbing fixtures.
Troubleshoot kitchen equipment and repair heating and cooling pumps.
Install and program televisions.
Maintain accurate preventative-maintenance records for all rooms and equipment.
Test and maintain life safety systems to ensure they are fully operational.
Coordinate service-contract compliance and ensure work meets local, state, and federal codes.
Maintain the building exterior and curb appeal in accordance with EarthView sustainability guidelines.
Follow safe work practices, including MSDS and OSHA standards, while working to increase guest satisfaction scores.
