About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and driven Chief Engineer to lead all maintenance and facilities operations at our Hampton Inn North Virginia Beach Oceanfront property. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for maintaining the physical integrity of the hotel, ensuring Hilton brand standards compliance, and delivering a safe, comfortable, and memorable environment for every guest. The Chief Engineer directly supervises the maintenance team and serves as the primary point of contact for all engineering, safety, and facilities matters. Requirements

  • 3+ years of hotel or facilities engineering/maintenance management experience
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems
  • CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a maintenance team
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and hospitality safety/risk management practices
  • Guest-focused mindset with strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Hilton or other major hotel brand standards
  • Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or similar)
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and capital project coordination

Responsibilities

  • Lead all hotel maintenance and engineering operations, ensuring the property meets or exceeds Hilton brand standards at all times
  • Supervise, schedule, and develop the maintenance team — fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PMS) program, including twice-annual full guestroom PM inspections
  • Maintain all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems throughout the property
  • Manage and operate hotel pool(s) in compliance with CPO (Certified Pool Operator) standards and local health codes
  • Develop and implement emergency response protocols for equipment failures, power outages, and other unforeseen events to minimize disruption to guests and operations
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors — solicit bids, obtain quotes, and oversee work for repairs and capital projects
  • Prepare and manage the departmental budget, including forecasting, monitoring spending, and identifying cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, fire safety, environmental standards, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations — maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Respond promptly to guest room and common area maintenance requests, ensuring a positive guest experience
  • Partner with hotel leadership on renovation projects and capital improvement planning
