Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years prior building trade or hotel/motel engineering experience.
  • Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic hand tools and other trade related equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standard and application for working with chemicals and practicing OSHA safety standards on all applicable jobs.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Ability to train subordinates in proper safe work practices.
  • Visual ability to read manufacturers instructions, schematics and blueprints and to determine wire colors for safe repair and detect emergency situations.
  • Skill in use of a variety of skilled trade tools (both hand and electric)
  • Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance at all times.
  • Adhere to all procedures stated in the employee handbook.
  • All of the above is hands on responsibilities.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifting or pushing up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to reach in all directions while standing on a ladder or scaffold at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to grasp, lift or carry objects weighing up to 80 lbs
  • Ability to perform duties in extreme temperature ranges.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to walk, stand and sit.
  • The associate will occasionally be required to climb and use balance.
  • Additionally, the team member will frequently be asked to use hands and arms carry and lift items.
  • Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • The team member will also come in contact with noxious and abrasive chemicals that must be handled properly to ensure the safety of the team member and others.
  • Must be willing and available to fulfill demands of a 24/7 operation with potential shift re-scheduling according to business volume.

Responsibilities

  • Complete responsibility for maintaining the hotel's appearance, equipment and systems.
  • Active management in the supervision of all work and repairs being performed.
  • Serves on the hotel Executive Committee as well as the Manager on Duty program.
  • Expected to have direct involvement with guest and team members.
  • Responsible for the efficient operations of all mechanical equipment, the safety and cleanliness of all guest and staff areas and the overall condition of the hotel in accordance with all Local, State and Federal laws in addition to Brand compliance.
  • Responsible for the presentation, maintenance and landscaping, cleanliness and presentation of the guest rooms, meeting space, restaurants and all public areas.
  • Oversees the maintenance team, landscaping, pool maintenance and works together with the Executive Housekeeper to keep all guest rooms and public areas in the best possible condition.
  • Hiring, scheduling, training, inventories and inspections of the hotel are required.
  • Working closely with vendors and contractors to provide the hotel with maximum efficiency within budgetary and contractual guidelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with, and instruct team members in areas where they lack the knowledge, skills or experience.
  • Hiring, training, counseling, scheduling and other personnel matters relating to maintenance staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews and development of all Engineering staff to achieve hotel service quality standards.
  • Complete assignments as requested by the Hotel General Manager.
  • Ensuring that outside contractors complete what is stated on the service call tickets when necessary.
  • Delegate work requests to responsible Engineers on a daily basis, allowing for minimum inconvenience to other departments and guests.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees and other departments on a daily basis.
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs, PM logs, and the daily activity logs.
  • Assure that property is in full compliance with relevant OSHA standards.
  • Check work order assignment board daily and complete assignments in a timely fashion, in order of priority.
