About The Position

Margaritaville Resort Orlando is seeking a dedicated and experienced Chief Engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground role for someone who will take pride in keeping our cottages and villas running smoothly and efficiently. As Chief Engineer, you'll be responsible for overseeing day-to-day building operations, managing maintenance teams, and ensuring all systems are operating at peak performance. You'll be a key part of the team that keeps our cottages and villas safe, functional, and thriving. The Chief Engineer at is responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations across the property, ensuring optimal performance of building systems, infrastructure, and equipment. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to maintaining our resort cottages and villas.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in engineering or facilities management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety.
  • Proficiency in building management systems (BMS) and maintenance software.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience with resort or vacation home properties is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, EPA, LEED, PMP) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the maintenance team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with contractors for specialized services and capital projects.
  • Monitor and control energy usage and sustainability initiatives.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, including capital expenditure planning.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of building systems and infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment logs.
  • Collaborate with property management, tenants, and stakeholders to ensure high levels of service and satisfaction.
