About The Position

Windsor Hospitality is looking for their newest Chief Engineer to join the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Temecula, CA. This role is responsible for the entire physical operation of the property, including all systems, guest rooms, and capital projects. The Chief Engineer will work directly with the General Manager, partner with corporate on CapEx, and develop an Engineering team. This position requires a technical leader who holds their team to a high standard and enjoys the challenge of keeping a full-service hotel running smoothly.

Requirements

  • Strong technical knowledge of hotel building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and Fire Life Safety.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and hold accountable a team of Engineers and Groundskeepers, either directly or through lead technicians.
  • Knowledge of government regulations, safety requirements, and compliance standards covering hotel facilities operations.
  • Ability to work effectively across a wide variety of maintenance situations and solve problems using facts and sound judgment.
  • Ability to react quickly in emergency situations and make high-stakes decisions involving financial risk or the safety of guests and associates.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse team members, department heads, vendors, and ownership representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, develop, and maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program for the hotel, covering refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, guest and meeting rooms, A/H units, ice machines, swimming pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, and related systems.
  • Ensure all projects and work orders are completed according to specifications, on time, and within established expense plans.
  • Work closely with all department heads, including Housekeeping and Front Desk, to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize guest disruption.
  • Establish and maintain a training program for the Engineering department covering base knowledge of hotel systems, first responder activities, and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) shut-offs.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Security vendors to implement the First Responder program and hotel-wide safety initiatives.
  • Meet with third-party vendors including general contractors, trades service professionals, architects, and designers to develop project scopes; participate in capital expense budget planning, scheduling, and closeouts; partner with corporate for capital expense approvals and project execution.
  • Perform work within departmental expense plans; estimate, requisition, and inspect materials as needed.
  • Study work schedules and estimate labor requirements for job assignments; establish or adjust work procedures to meet operational schedules.
