About The Position

This is a Department Promotional recruitment and is open to eligible employees of Kern County Counsel. The position requires a license by the California State Bar and five years of legal experience including civil procedure. Examinations will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest, and personal fitness for the position. The appraisal can be based on any combination of investigation, oral exam, and rating of the application. If an oral exam is necessary, it will be weighted 100%. Applicants must achieve at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process. The Human Resources Division may appraise application materials to limit candidates advancing to the oral examination to approximately the top fifteen.

Requirements

  • Licensed by California State Bar
  • Five years of legal experience including civil procedure
  • Must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process
  • Valid government-issued photograph identification for examination admittance
  • Ability to submit to post-offer medical and drug screening tests
