About The Position

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is seeking a Chief Content & Experience Officer to lead an integrated Membership, Content & Publications, Professional Development, and Conferences & Events function. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a collaborative member of the Executive Team, this executive leader will set the vision and strategy for how NAEYC delivers value, deepens relationships, and serves its member and field community. This leader will oversee the product and program portfolio through which NAEYC's mission comes to life — connecting educators, leaders, and organizations with the learning, content, community, and recognition they need to advance high-quality early childhood education. Aligned with NAEYC values and steeped in understanding the needs throughout the professional journey of early childhood education, this role will ensure our content forms a comprehensive ecosystem of support for early childhood.

Requirements

  • 12-15 years of progressive leadership experience spanning content and publishing, professional learning, event and conference management, and member or audience engagement, including at least 5 years in a senior executive capacity with significant P&L responsibility.
  • A demonstrated track record of building and scaling professional learning programs, membership, conferences, and content portfolios within a mission-driven organization.
  • Experience generating and growing revenue through events, publications, digital learning, and/or membership programs.
  • Deep expertise in adult learning and competency-based design, with the ability to build learning experiences that are relevant, practical, and aligned to educators’ professional growth.
  • Familiarity with and experience in the early childhood education field required; non-profit and/or membership association experience preferred.
  • Strategic, systems-level thinking - the ability to integrate a diverse portfolio into one cohesive member experience.
  • Comfort and experience with public speaking and presentations, with the presence to represent the organization in convenings and meeting with partners.
  • Experience working within a multi-product, collaborative environment with different systems and with a mindset of innovation and problem solving.
  • Leadership that drives measurable results by enabling others to succeed: setting clear goals and shared metrics, building trust across teams, removing barriers, developing talent, and holding the organization accountable for progress.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic vision for an integrated portfolio of Membership, Content & Publications, Professional Development, and Conferences & Events that reinforces and amplifies value across every touchpoint.
  • Build and grow professional development into a significant and expanding revenue stream, creating a career-spanning learning ecosystem for educators and leaders.
  • Lead the strategic evolution of NAEYC's conference strategy and ensuring that our events grow and deepen engagement with the field.
  • Oversee the editorial vision and business operations of NAEYC's publishing portfolio, including books, journals, and digital content.
  • Provide strategic oversight of NAEYC's membership function, ensuring a compelling and competitive value proposition.
  • Serve as a core member of the Executive Team, partnering with fellow executives to align program priorities in service of NAEYC's mission.
