The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services supports individuals by promoting recovery, self-determination, and wellness in all aspects of life. DBHDS operates 12 facilities: 8 behavioral health facilities for adults, a training center, a psychiatric facility for children and adolescents, a medical center, and a center for behavioral rehabilitation. State facilities provide highly structured, intensive services for individuals with mental illness, intellectual disability, or need substance use disorder services. This position will work at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, a 72-bed Joint Commission accredited State Mental Health Facility, located in Danville, VA. SVMHI is seeking a dedicated Chief Clinical Officer to provide executive leadership for our clinical departments to include the Psychology, Rehabilitative Services, and Social Work Departments. This role focuses on providing executive leadership, clinical oversight, and strategic direction for the programs under its oversight. This role establishes and monitors clinical protocols, policies and procedures to ensure high quality, evidenced based care. This role provides oversight and ensures compliance with standards of care as mandated by The Joint Commission, CMS, and other accrediting bodies. This role directs clinical operations including forensic inpatient orders, involuntary psychiatric treatments (TDOs), and civil commitments for adult patients 18 to 64 years of age.
