Performs advanced professional veterinary medical and surgical work in support of Animal Services operations. Provides clinical oversight, performs high-quality spay/neuter and basic well-pet preventative care services, and supports the development and implementation of medical protocols and standards. Serves as the lead veterinarian for the Spay & Neuter Clinic of Alamance County and collaborates with leadership to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices. An employee in this class serves as the lead veterinary authority for the Spay & Neuter Clinic of Alamance County, and provides professional veterinary services in a public low-cost pet sterilization and wellness clinic setting. Responsibilities include medical and surgical services, oversight of medical programs, regulatory compliance, and consultation on animal health matters, including cruelty and neglect cases. Work involves independent clinical judgment and coordination with the Animal Services Director and Senior Manager of Veterinary Services.
