About The Position

Cumulus Media is hiring a full-time Chief Technical Board Operator/Producer for WBAP and KLIF in Dallas. The role operates the radio control-room console to put content on air seamlessly while following station policies and procedures and meeting FCC requirements. The position also produces WBAP’s midday and afternoon shows, edits audio, supports station or show production, podcasts and manages station social media, fills in on other shifts as needed, and helps supervise board operators. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, self-motivated, and able to work closely with the program director and, when needed, the sales department in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of radio experience, either at the college or smaller-market level.
• Knowledge of news and awareness of the day’s major stories.
• Understanding of radio control-room equipment, including broadcast consoles, related digital audio systems, call screening, Vox Pro, EAS systems, broadcast delay, and remote delivery equipment.
• Ability to think quickly and make sound decisions in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work well with other employees.
• Excellent communication skills, including writing and grammar.
• Reliability, responsibility, and punctuality.
• Ability to work weekends, weekend nights, overnights, and holidays if needed.
• Strong work ethic, self-starting ability, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate the broadcast console in the radio control room to put content on air seamlessly.
• Follow station policies and procedures and ensure FCC requirements are met daily.
• Ensure all commercial materials air as logged.
• Edit audio and perform station or show production.
• Produce the midday and afternoon shows on WBAP.
• Handle podcasting and station social media management.
• Fill in on other shifts as needed.
• Help supervise board operators.
• Work closely with the program director to execute programming and be accessible to the sales department if needed.
