About The Position

The Board Operator maintains quality on-air levels and program flow, monitors broadcast systems to ensure content airs on time and without glitches, and responds efficiently to automation failures. The role also monitors overnight news to alert listeners in specific markets to danger during a crisis, and supports the organization’s audio platforms.

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment used for sound/audio or production of on-air material.
• Ability to work through multiple simultaneous problems in a systematic, logical manner.
• Ability to work independently and meet performance expectations and ministry goals.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible availability to work various shifts, including day, evening, weekends, and overnight.

• Radio production background.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Zetta systems while they are in automation and make adjustments when abnormalities occur.
• Keep automation systems on time for the top of the hour, breaks, and station ID playback.
• Maintain on-air programming in the event of a Zetta system failure.
• Answer studio phone lines and respond to listeners’ questions about the station, songs, and information requests.
• Keep the studio clean and safe by dusting and wiping counters and equipment as needed.
• Load voice tracks.
• Enter top-of-the-hour hooks, newscasts, and news bites.
• Run the studio board for a newscast with a live news person.
• Run an EAS test as needed.
• Recover missing voice tracks.
• Monitor overnight news to alert listeners in specific markets to danger during crises.
