About The Position

Modo Energy is a data platform at the center of the energy transition, providing benchmarking, forecasting, and valuation tools for energy investors, developers, and operators. Founded in 2019, Modo Energy has grown to over 80 employees across London, New York, Sydney, and Madrid, with significant funding and a fast-paced, AI-native approach. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a rapidly scaling, category-defining company.

The US market is crucial for battery storage, and this role is responsible for being the public face of Modo Energy's US market intelligence. The Chief Analyst will transform Modo's data into influential analysis for the industry, becoming a reference point for the US market, similar to Zillow's Chief Economist. This is a build role within the marketing team in New York, reporting to the Director of Marketing, with a dotted line to the research team and collaboration with media and design teams. The goal is to grow the US market intelligence function as the company scales.

Requirements

• 5–8 years working in or on US power markets, with significant depth in battery storage.
• Fluency in at least two ISO/RTO markets, including market design, ancillary services, and revenue dynamics.
• A public track record of published analysis and given talks (links required).
• Proven ability to translate complex data into easily repeatable narratives for non-experts.
• Polished and confident communicator on stage, on camera, and in writing.
• Based in (or willing to relocate to) New York.

Nice To Haves

• Existing industry following (e.g., LinkedIn, newsletter, podcast).
• Broadcast, podcast, or on-camera experience.
• Python or SQL literacy for credible collaboration with analysts.
• Experience at a market research house, IPP, optimizer, developer, or trading desk.

Responsibilities

• Publish weekly analysis on US battery storage and power markets across major ISOs/RTOs.
• Own a flagship newsletter on the Modo platform.
• Represent Modo at 12+ industry events in the first year, including RE+, ACP conferences, ISO market summits, and stakeholder forums.
• Deliver talks at industry events.
• Front US video, podcast, and webinar output alongside the in-house production team.
• Serve as a go-to source for journalists seeking quotes on energy storage.
• Participate in strategic customer conversations to provide market credibility.
• Generate measurable demand through content.
• Work daily with Americas research analysts to ground analysis in Modo data.
• Make Modo's US research famous.
