About The Position

Responsible for the accounting and financial reporting functions under general direction. Supervises and manages assigned area of the department.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge in the application of governmental Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements in financial/accounting transactions.
• Strong knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices, and their application to a wide variety of accounting transactions and problems in municipal government accounting functions.
• Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to municipal government finance.
• Intermediate to advanced personal computer and software application skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft office, and ability to learn new computer information systems.
• Skilled in compiling and preparing financial reports
• Ability to implement and administer financial accounting systems
• Effective supervisory and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing including use of good grammar and conveying information in a tactful, concise, and professional manner
• Ability to organize assignments and multiple tasks, prioritize and work independently.
• Must be flexible and adaptable to change.
• Polished and proven people skills with a focus of being able to interact well with a diverse population, provide excellent customer service, ability to diffuse conflict situations, and problem resolution.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with fellow employees.
• Excellent teamwork skills.
• Detailed oriented.

Nice To Haves

• Four (4) years of government accounting experience
• Two years of supervisory experience
• CPA/CGFO
