About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and engaging Chess and STEM Instructor to lead classes for students in grades K-5. This role involves teaching the fundamentals of chess and engaging students in STEM activities. The classes are held on Mondays from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at our Santa Ana, CA location, running from August 24th to December 14th. This is an hourly position, compensated at $75 per hour of class.

Requirements

Experience teaching chess or STEM subjects to children.
Strong knowledge of chess rules and basic strategies.
Ability to create and implement age-appropriate STEM activities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for working with children.
Must be available on Mondays from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Background check may be required.

Nice To Haves

Formal chess coaching certification.
Experience with various STEM disciplines (e.g., coding, robotics, science experiments).
Teaching credential or degree in education, STEM field, or related area.
Experience working with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

Instruct students in the game of chess, covering basic rules, strategies, and etiquette.
Develop and deliver engaging STEM activities suitable for K-5th grade students.
Manage classroom behavior and ensure a positive learning environment.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and program coordinators.
Prepare lesson materials and adapt curriculum as needed.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during class time.
