This role involves planning and executing a program of study that caters to the individual needs, interests, diverse backgrounds, and abilities of students. The position contributes to establishing department or grade-level curriculum objectives and developing a comprehensive plan for their implementation and evaluation. A key aspect is creating a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of students, and guiding the learning process towards curriculum goals. This includes setting clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and employing effective instructional methods and materials. The role requires regular assessment of student progress, diagnosis of learning strengths and weaknesses, and collaboration with specialists when needed. It also involves counseling with colleagues, students, and parents, and assisting administration in implementing policies related to student life and conduct. Developing and maintaining classroom behavior rules and procedures, and supervising support personnel and volunteers are also responsibilities. The position requires the use of appropriate technology, maintaining accurate records, and performing Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities as directed. Adherence to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida and school/District policy requirements is mandatory. Support for school improvement initiatives and recognizing/acting on indicators of student distress or abuse are also expected. Establishing an appropriate testing environment and ensuring test security are additional duties.
