About The Position

GENERAL SUMMARY Perform special and routine chemistry tasks, such as chemical and radiochemical analyses, instrument calibrations, data review; attend training, and other tasks as assigned. Function as a plant Emergency Response Team Member (ERO qualified). Function as a Fire Brigade Member (Fire Brigade qualified). PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Work independently on tasks for which qualified, such as: Routine sampling of plant systems to ensure compliance with chemistry control guidelines and proper chemical control. Special sampling of plant systems to ensure compliance with chemistry control guidelines and proper chemical control. Surveillance sampling of plant systems to ensure compliance with chemistry control guidelines and proper chemical control. Perform data review and provide necessary corrective actions as needed. Troubleshooting and calibrations on laboratory instrumentation. System chemical additions. Radiological surveys as permitted by the RWP. Inventories of laboratory chemicals and equipment, and hazardous waste satellite areas. Revisions of procedures, lesson plans, and OJT guides. Initiate Condition Reports to document adverse issues, such as out of specification chemistry results, equipment problems, procedure issues, safety concerns, etc. Initiate Work Requests to address equipment/housekeeping issues. Participate in the laboratory quality control program and cross check programs. Function as a Fire Brigade member. Function as the OSC Chemistry Technician for the Emergency Response Organization. Perform other tasks as assigned. Training Accountabilities: Attend/participate in Chemistry Technician training (Note - percent of time will vary based on in grade level). Participate in Fire Brigade training and drills. Participate in ERO training and drills.

Requirements

  • Placement in grade: 75% - Associate's degree with no related experience; 80% - Bachelor's degree with no related experience, OR Associate's degree with one year related experience; 85% - Bachelor's degree with one year related experience, OR Associate's degree with two years related experience; 90% - Bachelor's degree with two years related experience, OR Associate's degree with three years related experience, OR six years Navy experience, achieving a rank of E5 or below, with ELT Qualifications; 95% - Bachelor's degree with three years related experience, OR Associate's degree with four years related experience, OR six years Navy experience, achieving a rank of E6 or above, with ELT Qualifications.
  • Note: Bachelor's or Associate's degree must be in Science/Engineering/Math from an accredited college or university.
