About The Position

The Technician I, Chemistry Solid Support Production is responsible for the manufacture of Controlled Pore Glass (CPG) materials by following established and robust procedures, quality standards, and safe work practices. As an entry-level role, this position performs routine production activities using validated protocols to ensure the consistent production of high-quality CPG materials that support oligonucleotide manufacturing. Primary responsibilities include the modification of native CPG across various pore sizes through amine and nucleoside functionalization, as well as the attachment of proprietary dyes and quenchers. The Technician I supports solid-phase chemistry processes that are used in oligo manufacturing and is responsible for operating, cleaning, and maintaining basic production equipment associated with these activities. In addition, the Technician I maintains accurate production documentation, monitors inventory levels of raw materials and supplies, and assists in ensuring equipment readiness and efficient manufacturing operations. This role works closely with the production team to meet quality, safety, and production objectives while contributing to a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Physical Science with 0 to 2 years of industry experience in a laboratory or manufacturing setting; or 2 to 4 years of relevant industry experience; or An equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Entry level understanding of laboratory, chemical and general safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Competent with chemical calculations for molarity, density, and use of the metric system.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or processes simultaneously while meeting production timelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and work proactively.
  • Good computer and data entry skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and web browsers.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Adherence to company safety and PPE policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using ERP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP, or similar).
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, oligonucleotide manufacturing, or a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and material control processes.
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Participation in safety initiatives, 5S programs, or continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned tasks using the established protocols and methods on the appropriate equipment and within the given final specifications and timeline.
  • Responsible for the manufacturing of robust protocols by demonstrating a working knowledge of routine tasks while supporting and collaborating with colleagues to ensure critical tasks are met.
  • Understand and follow routing manufacturing procedures
  • Continuously replenish inventory of CPG products as assigned by Solid Support Leadership.
  • Effectively communicate to ensure all equipment is functional and available for use and coordinate with Solid Support Leadership to ensure the most efficient use of time and resources. This includes making recommendations to supervisor as necessary regarding resources required to meet objectives and timelines.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace.
  • Record real time data onto physical and electronic batch records following good documentation practices.
  • Comply with all company, departmental, regulatory policies and rules.
  • Perform other duties as required, or assigned by management, to meet business needs.
