Responsible for instruction on various topics and levels in chemistry through dynamic and engaging lessons and lab experiments. Instruct students at a secondary school at the college prep, honors, and AP level. Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in. Create instructional resources for use in the classroom. Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic instructional activities. Create projects designed to enhance lessons. Design for and implement with inquiry-based lab experiments students. Meet course and school-wide student performance goals and use school-wide rubrics. Attend and participate with colleagues in faculty meetings, department meetings, IEP meetings, etc. Collaborate with science department staff to create, implement, and review common assessments, laboratory experiments, and other learning activities. Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year to meet individual students’ goals including special education students and English learners. Grade assignments and perform other administrative duties as needed. Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served. Tutor students on an individual basis. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Observe and evaluate students’ performance using formative and summative assessments. Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking a variety of classroom management techniques. Initiate and participate in two-way communication with families about students’ performance throughout the school year. Promptly communicate student concerns to curriculum coordinator, guidance department, support staff, and building administration. Participate in evening events including Back to School Night and fall and spring parent-teacher conferences.
