This role involves performing manual dilutions, ensuring the successful performance of periodic evaluations and reports for the Chemistry test menu, and managing reference testing, including follow-up for rejected tests. The Chief also performs diagnostic qualitative testing and ensures test validity before reporting results. Key duties include maintaining laboratory equipment by calibrating, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and evaluating new equipment. Additionally, the role involves managing laboratory supplies inventory, conserving resources, providing medical technology information, preparing reports, and staying current with professional knowledge. The Chief must also foster inter- and intradepartmental cooperation, maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhere to infection-control and hazardous waste policies, protect patient confidentiality, and contribute to team efforts. The position requires effective response to emergencies and adherence to hospital policies regarding punctuality, absences, and flexible scheduling.
