About The Position

The Chemistry Research Assistant will participate in the University of St. Thomas Chemistry Department’s summer research program in St. Paul. The program brings together 40–50 students, from new freshmen to seniors, to work full time with faculty. Participants attend weekly group meetings to share findings and discuss research issues, meet with students from other local colleges, and take part in group social functions. Students are expected to reserve several hours per week during the academic year to continue making progress on their research projects. Students who have not previously conducted research in the department should speak with at least three faculty members before applying so they can make an informed choice about projects. Applicants agree that their application information is accurate, that they have spoken with each faculty member listed, and that they will consult their mentor if new summer obligations could conflict with their research commitment. The role is open to eligible St. Thomas students pursuing degrees at the undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral level who are actively enrolled in credit-bearing courses at least part time. The application deadline is December 20, 2026.
