About The Position

The Chemistry Lab Assistant supports the Chemistry Department by assisting faculty with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of instructional laboratories. This position provides students with valuable hands-on laboratory experience while helping ensure chemistry labs operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established laboratory safety standards.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently.
• Dependable, punctual, and organized.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods while performing laboratory tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, glassware, and supplies for laboratory classes.
• Set up and clean up chemistry laboratories before and after lab sessions.
• Clean, organize, and properly store laboratory equipment, glassware, and chemicals.
• Monitor laboratory supply inventory and notify faculty when materials need to be replenished.
• Assist faculty with routine laboratory preparation and basic laboratory procedures.
• Follow all chemical hygiene and laboratory safety procedures, including the proper handling and disposal of chemical waste.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Chemistry Department.
