This position plans and provides instruction to students based on state, District, and school curricula and requirements, and based on the students’ social and other formative needs. The role involves creating developmentally and linguistically appropriate and challenging learning experiences, developing lessons that are accessible and culturally relevant, and demonstrating knowledge of the Utah Core Standards. The teacher will establish a classroom climate conducive to learning, develop learning experiences that engage and support students as self-directed learners, and utilize positive classroom management strategies. Instruction will be based on accurate content knowledge using multiple representations of concepts and appropriate academic language, employing a range of instructional strategies, and supporting English language development. Student learning will be monitored through various demonstration methods, formative and summative data, and descriptive feedback. The position also requires collaboration with families, colleagues, and professionals, adaptation and improvement of practice, engagement in learning experiences, participation in decision-making, and advocacy for learners, the school, the community, and the profession. Compliance with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, district policies, and supervisory directives is essential. The role requires regular and predictable attendance, professional workplace etiquette, effective communication with diverse groups, adaptability to cultural differences, and the ability to cope with stressful situations while maintaining confidentiality.
