About The Position

Handles samples, performs analyses and reports accurate and timely data according to Laboratory Operating Procedures and test methodologies. This role involves maintaining and verifying equipment, reporting deficiencies or malfunctions to the supervisor, and maintaining records of all quality activities. The position also requires identifying and recording nonconformities on Corrective Action Requests. The chemist will use well-defined methods and procedures as guidelines for work tasks, and may modify or change established methods and procedures as approved by the supervisor, while staying within prescribed standards. They will identify fundamental problems for major functions, read manuals/procedures to figure out solutions for unfamiliar situations, and collaborate with management to decide on actions. Suggestions for improving efficiency of sample flow and preparation processes to decrease turnaround time are encouraged, and re-checks will be initiated when QC failures occur.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field or commercial laboratory experience Required
  • 3 or more years of relevant Lab/bench experience Required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Metals and Minerals analysis by ICPMS Preferred

  • Initiate re-checks when QC failures happen due to poor chromatography, sample in homogeneity, QC non-conformances, etc.
