About The Position

This position will offer a qualified candidate the opportunity to work in Raytheon’s Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE) Department, servicing all of Raytheon with innovative solutions to nonstandard problems. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in M&PE’s world class lab, performing hands-on-testing of adhesives, elastomers, polymers, tapes, composites, metals, and various other production materials vital to the success of our products. The Chemicals and Materials Engineer I job is in Tucson, AZ and the position is onsite.

Requirements

  • Typically requires A University Degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in Materials Engineering or Chemical Analysis
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry majors
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical specifications
  • An understanding of material testing/analysis such as hardness, adhesion tests, sample preparation procedures, and cross sectioning
  • Experience in performing and managing high volume, highly technical work

Responsibilities

  • Test a wide array of materials for compliance with drawings, specifications, and program applications.
  • Work in a “wet lab,” observing all safety procedures and common lab protocols.
  • Write scientific reports using generated data to support technical dispositions.
