About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer will provide mechanical maintenance engineering technical expertise to plant Operations and Maintenance personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, getting equipment in functional condition and providing input to facility and equipment strategies for both rotating and fixed equipment. This role ensures that all activities are carried out in conformance with laws and regulations, contractual requirements, and the project management manual, with a particular focus on the health and safety of personnel, the natural and working environment, and equipment. The position involves package ownership and review for critical equipment such as heat exchangers, pressure vessels, boilers, freshwater generators, and gas compressors. The engineer will comment on mechanical design for operability, functionality, accessibility, and maintainability, review comments from certifying authorities, and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations. Collaboration with the Maintenance Technologist is key for troubleshooting and developing procedures and repair plans. The role provides technical expertise to plant personnel on repairs and evaluating equipment performance and reliability. For critical equipment, the engineer ensures work requests include detailed engineering input and provides onsite/offsite technical support for deviations. They will also request equipment, materials, and consumables, propose and implement cost-effective solutions, participate in developing maintenance strategies with the Reliability Engineer, provide input on turnaround work scope, and offer technical support for specification, identification, and purchasing of parts. Additionally, the role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising revamp and maintenance activities, and participating in the design of material codification systems.
