About The Position

This role supports laboratory testing and ensures safe, reliable chemical operations. The Downstream Chemicals Team leverages advanced chemistry, digital tools, and industry expertise to deliver value-driven solutions for refinery customers. The team provides best-in-class support to improve water and process treatment applications, helping customers optimize performance, reliability, and safety. As a Chemical Technician, you will support laboratory and operational activities by running appropriate tests, following established procedures, and applying moderate analytical skills. You will work closely with technical and operations teams to ensure accurate results, safe practices, and consistent execution.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with 1+ year of laboratory experience, or Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Moderate analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of chemical testing methods and laboratory practices.
  • Ability to follow standardized procedures and work instructions.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory or industrial environment while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Running appropriate laboratory and field tests in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
  • Applying moderate analytical skills to review results and identify routine issues or deviations.
  • Demonstrating working knowledge within a general field of chemical specialty.
  • Supporting sample preparation, handling, and basic testing activities.
  • Accurately documenting test results, work activities, and related information using basic computer systems.
  • Following formal procedures and maintenance practices to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Supporting operational and laboratory activities based on business needs.
  • Conducting all work in accordance with company Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) policies, quality standards, and legal requirements.
