About The Position

Stronger Can is looking for a Chemical Process Operator to join our growing team. Our RO (Reverse Osmosis), BM (Body Maker) Coolant System, washer, and wastewater systems are critical components of our manufacturing process. As part of Chemical Operations team supporting these areas, you will be responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment to support production requirements while ensuring products meet or exceed established quality standards. The Chemical Process area includes the RO system, BM Coolant System, washer, washer oven, wastewater areas, and all associated track work within these designated areas. You will play a key role in maintaining reliable operations and supporting overall plant performance.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of environmental regulations
  • Basic knowledge of chemical, oils, water treatment process techniques, and/or chemical related manufacturing operations
  • Ability to learn nomenclature of all assigned equipment and products.
  • Ability to learn to identify product defects.
  • Ability to work Independently
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to read, write, calculate, and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Mechanical ability of working on pumps, conveyors, motors, shafts, bearings and other basic mechanical work.
  • Working knowledge machine mechanics & troubleshooting

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all equipment within the assigned area of responsibility to ensure quality standards are consistently met, including monitoring can washing performance and overall product quality.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain process equipment on the manufacturing line to support efficient production while ensuring the Chemical Process, RO, and wastewater systems remain within compliance.
  • Maximize production efficiency while minimizing product spoilage and process disruptions.
  • Perform daily equipment and area inspections to identify and prevent potential issues, including leaks, spills, hazards, and sources of waste.
  • Communicate potential equipment or process concerns to the Lead Chemical Process Maintainer.
  • Perform safe and effective equipment repairs during breakdowns and as required to maintain operations.
  • Complete equipment setup checks following maintenance activities to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform chemical testing and adjustments to maintain proper pH and alkalinity levels in compliance with city and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and adjust wastewater systems, including sludge removal processes, to maintain EPA compliance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following 5S housekeeping standards and schedules.
  • Follow all safety procedures and comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and other assigned tasks during scheduled maintenance days as directed by the Engineering Department.
  • Safely operate ancillary equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment as required following appropriate training and certification.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, preventative actions, and achieving key performance objectives.
  • Maintain effective communication with management and team members regarding quality concerns, production challenges, process improvements, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote a safe work environment by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Maintain and properly use required hand tools and equipment.
  • Complete and maintain accurate daily logs, records, and documentation.
