About The Position

Reagent Chemical & Research, LLC. is seeking a full-time Chemical Operator to join their growing team in Newcomerstown, OH. This position is on 1st shift and requires 40 hours a week, with possible overtime, floating shifts, and weekend coverage. The role involves transferring hazardous chemicals, documenting inventories, inspecting equipment, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The operator must also learn and retain process knowledge, communicate effectively, and provide leadership in daily activities related to safety, environment, maintenance, and quality.

Requirements

  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Experience with lined pipe and valve installation.
  • Maintenance experience in an industrial setting relating to metering systems, and electrical components.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Transfer hazardous chemicals from tanks, railcars, trucks to other vessels and operate both manual and automated systems.
  • Document inventories on computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and communicate same by e-mail or network.
  • Inspect tanks, pipes, valves and control systems and submit reports indicating condition.
  • Monitor the condition of the terminal yard and equipment to report conditions.
  • Handle equipment and hazardous materials in a manner as not to compromise ISO, DOT and EPA regulations.
  • Be accountable for personal safety, the safety of coworkers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Learn and retain process knowledge of the facility and process changes to site to enable effective operation and detection of unusual process conditions; use knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to co-workers and management.
  • Provide personal leadership in daily activities, task planning, incident investigations, and work performance as they relate to safety, the environment, maintenance, and quality and reliability.
  • Order materials needed for the facility from the approved vendor list.
  • Take ownership of the facility to ensure product transportation and storage results are satisfied and to ensure the site is maintained in proper operating condition.
  • Record data readings, utilize plant data control systems, and observe process conditions on a continual basis to maintain good control of the facility.
  • Place systems in a safe condition for maintenance work, perform maintenance activities and communicate the status to the facility manager and coworkers.
  • Provide ideas, raise concerns, and work with other functions including pipeline management, engineering, and maintenance to improve individual and unit performance.
  • May participate in dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the workplace environment.
  • Evaluate the facility's operating status and perform troubleshooting of process and equipment in order to ensure integrity of the pipelines and storage systems, and the timely, accurate product shipping documents, and certificates of analysis to drivers for customer deliveries.
