About The Position

Cabot Corporation is a leading global specialty chemicals and performance materials company. This role operates chemical process systems and related equipment, performing all tasks safely and following plant policies. The position involves working overnight on rotating 12-hour shifts from 5:45 pm to 5:45 am. The company encourages applications even if not every requirement is met.

Requirements

  • Manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to details.

  • Able to read and interpret operating instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of shop mathematics in order to read batch sheets.
  • High level of safety awareness and attention to details.

  • Organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Familiarity with computers as a user.
  • Flexibility in performing changing assignments and work schedules.
  • Required to work off-shift hours.
  • Ability to lift heavy containers and use material handling equipment.
  • Ability to remain calm and react effectively in critical situations.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of chemical operation experience is preferred.
  • Must have been in current position for a minimum of 12 months to be eligible to apply for other internal positions.

Responsibilities

  • Controls chemical process and operates all related equipment using the distributed control system (DCS).
  • Adjusts controls to regulate variables as per instructions, following work instructions (WI) and Manufacturing Control Plans (MCP).
  • Performs set up procedures to prepare systems for operation, including staging and weighing raw materials.
  • Ensures smooth operation of filling lines to package, label and weigh intermediates and final product.
  • Monitors and troubleshoots the process to maintain required operating conditions.
  • Conducts in process Quality Control testing.
  • Performs minor maintenance on process and support equipment.
  • Uses business management system to enter work orders and requisitions.
  • Transfers and moves materials in heavy containers.
  • Assists in packaging product for shipment and in loading/unloading product or raw materials.
  • Participates in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Keeps work area safe and clean.
  • Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
