About The Position

The Chemical Operator position creates chemical blends (Blending) in accordance with customer specifications. Assists in other areas of the plant as needed. Or; The Chemical Operator position unloads and loads products from (Bulk) tank trucks and railcars in accordance with internal policies and procedures. Assists in other areas of the plant as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Frequently required to use tools or controls and climb or balance.
  • Frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 42 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and horizontally push up to 125 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all established procedures and abide by all safety and quality guidelines.
  • Verifies the tank to be used for the chemical blend.
  • Follow all instructions on the blending sheet to create the chemical blend.
  • Connect all proper hoses to tanks and pumps.
  • On each blending sheet, employees record the lot number and amount of each additive used.
  • Presents the blend sheet to the lab when finished. Communicate with the lab for blend approvals and/or corrections.
  • Transfers approved product to storage vessel.
  • Responsible for organizing additive bins.
  • Maintains the plant and warehouse in an organized, safe and clean manner.
  • Control/maintain Tank Farm raw material tank levels and inventories.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on Tank Farm equipment.
  • Conduct analytical testing to confirm blends meet quality specifications.
  • Inspect each truck or railcar before loading or unloading product.
  • Check the calibration charts or set the meter for the proper volume.
  • Take a sample and send it to the lab for processing.
  • Connect hoses to filters, tank, and pumps.
  • Load and unload with appropriate product.
  • Seal and placard the truck or railcar when all paperwork is finished. Communicate to Operations Support Specialist that the loading or unloading is complete.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
