About The Position

Ecolab is seeking a Chemical Mixer for the afternoon shift. This role is responsible for mixing chemical batches according to formulas, instructions, and standard operating procedures, and will oversee all aspects of mixing and bulk loading. The position involves reviewing daily schedules, ensuring raw material availability, weighing materials, operating equipment to move and mix liquids, and ensuring product quality meets Ecolab standards. Responsibilities also include monitoring equipment, taking samples for quality control, performing basic tests, transferring batches, cleaning equipment and work areas, completing documentation, and reporting on production data. The role requires flexibility to perform other assigned duties, including in other departments, and a strong commitment to safety, including proper use of PPE and hazardous materials. New hires may receive guidance from experienced mixers. The role may also involve backup duties for Production Associate or Plant Receiver.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift Reach Truck experience
  • One year related experience in a plant or warehouse
  • Ability to use basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of whole numbers, fractions, percentages, and decimals
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with a strong team focus
  • No immigration sponsorship available for this role

  • Ability to complete training and master skills that are required by position (including but not limited to Hazardous Material Safety and TDG training)
  • Ability to understand and track safety, quality and productivity data, including run rates, fill weights, and averages

Responsibilities

  • Review daily mix schedules and ensure raw materials are available.
  • Read specification sheets to identify and weigh required raw materials.
  • Retrieve materials from the warehouse using a forklift, reach truck, or other equipment.
  • Operate pumping stations to move liquid raw materials to the mixing tank.
  • Follow mix instructions and add materials according to the process outlined on the specification sheet.
  • Ensure all mixed/filled product meets Ecolab quality standards.
  • Follow specifications for ingredient sequencing, batch timing, heating, cooling, and agitation.
  • Operate controls of mixer equipment and monitor for failures or problems during the mixing process.
  • Obtain samples for quality tests and perform pH and other tests on samples.
  • Monitor the quality of raw materials and mixed products by observing color, texture, and density.
  • Operate controls to transfer batches into hold tanks or fill directly into containers.
  • Wash lines and product tanks.
  • Complete accurate documentation for all products produced, including mixing sheets, drug records, mixing logs, inventory control reports, and batch reports, and enter data into the computer.
  • Maintain the mixing and surrounding area in a clean and orderly manner, including waste disposal.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of yield, loss, scrap, efficiencies, and quality.
  • Receive and ship all bulk chemicals.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in completing other duties as assigned, including in other departments.
  • Work in a safe manner and strive for zero work-related lost time incidents.
  • Understand and follow safety practices/procedures, WHMIS, and TDG.
  • Ensure proper and safe use of equipment, safeguards, PPE, and hazardous materials.
  • Report work-related hazards/incidents to the supervisor without delay.
  • Ensure forklifts are safe and functional before use.
  • Guide new hire Mixer associates in accountabilities and mixing processes upon demonstrating job proficiency.
  • Perform duties of Backup Production Associate or Backup Plant Receiver as required.
