About The Position

Plans, organizes, schedules and coordinates various aspects of the chemical management program. Responsible for inspecting user chemical storage locations for compliance with policies, procedures and regulations. Coordinates corrective actions to noncompliant activities and issues. Scans all areas according to established schedule to confirm/reconcile HMS database records. Responsible for logging/barcoding chemicals received at Central Receiving. Support MSDS and HMS maintenance efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in ES&H-related field (i.e. Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or other sciences) and 1-3 years experience or equivalent; ES&H-related experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and in a safe manner.
  • Ability to operate a computer and hand-held scanning device.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and HMS system.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret procedures and government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Ability to print data in a neat and legible manner for chemical inventory documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle numerous tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional interpersonal skills, demeanor, and appearance.
  • Must have physical dexterity to access difficult areas (warehouses, test stands, basements or ceilings), to work in an outside environment, and in remote areas.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain automobile insurance coverage through Company’s provider.
  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of chemical inventory storage locations.
  • Scan all associated barcodes and download data to HMS.
  • Reconcile inactive, active, or location changes actions as required.
  • Process inventory documentation to assure compliance with schedules and regulations.
  • Perform special chemical inventories at direction of supervisor.
  • Interface with company supervisory and customer personnel on a regular basis, responding to all oral/written requests, in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for barcoding all chemicals received at customer location.
  • Ability to interpret MSDS information and determine hazard classification.
  • Input environmental findings into customer-provided tracking system and perform follow-up to closures.
  • Collect data and compose monthly reports.
  • Provide assistance to internal and external auditors while conducting related environmental inspections.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
