This role is responsible for the receipt, maintenance of records, and inventorying of controlled wastes.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship, able to obtain and maintain US DOE Q level security clearance
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work any shift
  • Pass professional certification examination
  • Must be able to meet all required medical PPE and respirator requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with chemical compatibilities and characteristics, spill cleanup and decontamination procedures, segregation of controlled waste, and emergency response procedures
  • Experience with tearing down product and assemblies that are designed for destruction with a wide variety of equipment (Disintegrator, Shredder, Hammer mill, hand tools)
  • Fork truck experience in manufacturing setting

Responsibilities

  • Receipt, maintenance of records, and inventorying of controlled wastes.
  • Operates a CRT to maintain records dealing with excess property, precious metals, hazardous wastes, and classified scrap.
  • Receipt and inventorying of excess property, precious metals, radioactive wastes, hazardous wastes, and classified scrap.
  • Operating the hazardous material tank farm, mixing crib, and staging areas; conducting inspections of all areas, and maintaining inventory and inspection records for hazardous waste operations.
  • Emergency chemical spill cleanup.
  • Precious metal recovery operations.
  • Issuing supplies and containers to operating departments.
  • Cleanup of controlled materials and decontaminating as required.
  • Pumping controlled waste to and from tanks, sumps and pits, and cleaning transfer equipment involved.
  • Using all tools and equipment necessary to the performance of the task and may perform minor routine maintenance.
  • Working from written or oral instructions.
  • Performing necessary paperwork pursuant to the task.
  • Performing duties of the Material Handler classification as required.
