As a Chemical Lab Technician (4th Period), you will support safe and reliable power generation through chemical analysis, environmental sampling, equipment monitoring, and laboratory testing. This position works in an industrial power plant environment and requires work both inside the laboratory and throughout the plant, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions. This is a day shift position; however, overtime and extended shifts may be required to support plant operations. Important: Candidates must have completed the required college chemistry and math coursework listed below. Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have successfully completed the following college coursework with a C average or higher: Twenty semester hours of college-level chemistry.
  • Four semester hours of college algebra.
  • Four semester hours of higher-level math or computer science.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical knowledge related to power plant operations.
  • Ability to work an 8-hour day shift, overtime as needed, and occasionally up to 16 consecutive hours.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, prepare, and analyze coal, water, environmental, and plant chemical samples to support plant operations, environmental compliance, and reliability.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment, monitoring systems, chemical feed systems, and demineralizing equipment.
  • Work safely in an industrial environment using hand tools, laboratory equipment, handheld technology, and overhead cranes while following established procedures and maintaining accurate records.
