About The Position

This internship role focuses on contributing to new product development, sensor design improvement, or technology investigation efforts. The intern will own a defined design project or segment, executing laboratory experiments, analyzing data, and documenting findings. Collaboration with various functional disciplines and support for laboratory operations are key aspects of the position. The role emphasizes a curious and driven mindset, ownership of projects, clear communication, and the ability to manage ambiguity and learn quickly.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or chemistry
  • Zero (0) years of related professional experience required
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours) per week in-person at a Twin Cities location (Shakopee, Chanhassen, or Eden Prairie, MN)
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or project experience in analytical chemistry, electrochemistry, or sensor design
  • Familiarity with measurement technologies such as pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, or optical sensing
  • Laboratory experience, including safe chemical handling practices
  • Prior internship or undergraduate research experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Own a defined design project or project segment, contributing to new product development, sensor design improvement, or technology investigation efforts.
  • Design and execute laboratory experiments and evaluations to characterize sensor or system performance.
  • Develop test plans and propose design approaches for investigating technical questions or validating design concepts.
  • Analyze experimental data and translate findings into actionable design recommendations.
  • Document results through technical reports, design summaries, and presentations to project teams and leadership.
  • Research and source materials, components, or equipment needed to support design objectives.
  • Collaborate with engineers, chemists, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and other stakeholders across functional disciplines.
  • Support test solution preparation, laboratory equipment maintenance, and test setup development.
  • Maintain laboratory safety by safely handling chemicals and following established testing procedures.
  • Support additional technical initiatives as business needs arise.
