About The Position

Battelle’s National Security Business Line is seeking a Chemical Engineer to support the technical team in the execution of Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) efforts in Advanced Energy & Utilities. This position supports the Air Force Civil Engineer Center and is located on-site at Tyndall Air Force Base, near Panama City, FL. The successful candidate will support efforts in existing and emerging technical areas related to U.S. Air Force Civil Engineering requirements, specifically related to expeditionary energy technologies. Active areas of research include, but are not limited to: Expeditionary Shelters Technologies, Renewable Energy, Expeditionary electrical/power production (including power load management), Energy Storage Technologies, and Corrosion.

Requirements

  • BS in Chemical Engineering or equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Expert knowledge of LabVIEW and/or MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of cluster modelling and neural network approaches to predict performance.
  • Knowledge of battery chemistries, charge/discharge curves, SOC, SOH, and electrical impedance spectroscopy.
  • Knowledge of corrosion, corrosion inhibitors, coatings, coating test and evaluation.
  • Proactive, self-starter who can work independently and, in a team, environment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, and experience with MS Windows and Office
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform RDT&E of moderate complexity by compiling technical specifications, analyzing technical data, determine appropriate analysis methods, identify problems, and develop and implement solutions
  • Develop test plans and experimentation protocols, technology assessment studies, and conducts technical projects
  • Presents research results, prepare technical reports, publications, and presentations
  • Design, planning, and execution of energy and utility experiments
  • Construction and assembly of various experimental systems, including data acquisition systems and instrument/equipment control, wiring of various laboratory-scale devices and systems
  • Manages ordering, receipt, and inventory of purchases, shipments, and equipment.
  • Tracking/inventory of laboratory supplies and parts
  • Assists in equipment management inventory.
