About The Position

RiverView Health is seeking a full-time Chemical Dependency Counselor to join the RiverView Recovery Center team. This role is primarily based in our Crookston office, with potential for some hybrid work hours. The counselor will provide a range of clinical services, including group and individual counseling, chemical health assessments, crisis management, and treatment coordination.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Dependency, Addiction Studies, or an equivalent human services field (e.g., Social Work with an emphasis in Addiction Studies).
Must possess or be eligible to obtain Licensure as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.
Active ADC-T permit from the Board of Behavioral Health may be considered
Must maintain a current and valid LADC license with bi-annual renewal.
If the candidate has a personal history of substance use disorder, they must be free from chemical use problems for at least 2 years.
Must have completed a minimum 12-hour training in co-occurring disorders, or be willing to complete this training within 6 months of hire (per MN Statute 245G.13).
Must pass background and required state licensing checks.

Nice To Haves

Completion of 12 hours of co-occurring education (or willingness to complete within 6 months of employment).
Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation standards in behavioral health settings.
Prior experience in residential or outpatient chemical dependency treatment settings.
