About The Position

The Children’s Ski School Chef prepares lunch for children and instructors of the Children’s Ski School. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who wants to be an essential part of our guest experience; serving lunch in the Children’s Ski School. As a chef at Telluride Ski & Snowboard School, you will work with our youngest guests ranging in age from 3 – 6 years old. A desire to work around children is a must for this position. In addition to preparing lunch, you will be responsible for the overall kitchen organization including menu planning, food ordering, problem solving, and maintaining a clean kitchen. Working at Telluride will offer you the opportunity to build lasting relationships within Ski & Snowboard School for years to come.

Requirements

  • At least 1-year prior experience in a high-volume food service environment.
  • Excited and willing to work in an environment with young children (3-6 years old).
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA. We are not sponsoring work visas at this time.
  • Must be able to work full time over the busy holiday weeks/weekends.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive and energetic.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • Be able to identify areas that need improvement and have initiative to seek solutions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests and other employees.
  • Ability to do math.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
  • Become certified Food Protection Manager.
  • Kitchen organization including maintaining clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
  • Creating menus and the corresponding food preparation plan.
  • Prepares a daily staff breakfast including coffee/tea, bagels, oatmeal, etc.
  • Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity.
  • Clean, stock, and restock serving line and refrigerated case.
  • Inventory control including ordering food with Sysco and Shamrock.
  • Managing a budget of kitchen costs.
  • Open and conduct lunch operations. Close, clean, and conduct next-day prep for the Children’s Ski School lunch room.
  • Works closely with the 3-6YO Children’s Ski School Supervisor as well as team of Indoor Attendants.
  • Coach Lead Indoor Attendant on lunch preparations on your days off.
  • Provides a guest experience that exceeds the guest’s expectation.
  • Adheres to Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures.
