About The Position

Elderwood at Ticonderoga is seeking a reliable, experienced Cook/Chef to join its Dining Services team in Ticonderoga, New York. The role prepares meals from rotating menus according to standardized recipes, residents’ dietary requirements, food safety standards, and established production procedures. The Chef helps ensure meals are nutritious, safe, appealing, and enjoyable, contributing to residents’ health, comfort, and quality of life.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Previous food preparation experience is required.
Ability to understand and organize food preparation activities.
Ability to perform cooking tasks safely and efficiently.
Knowledge of food preparation and production processes.
Pride in the quality of food and service.
High degree of personal cleanliness and good hygiene; health status suitable for food service.
Respect for residents’ privacy and rights, and respectful and dignified treatment of residents.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Review menus and production sheets to determine quantities needed for regular, mechanically altered, and other special diets.
Prepare assigned food items.
Test cooked foods by tasting and smelling samples.
Meet sanitation and safety standards during food preparation, cooking, and production-line stages.
Maintain specified equipment and keep the general kitchen work area clean.
Supervise food being cooked and ensure food is held and served at the correct temperature.
Assist with preparing and distributing foodstuffs.
