About The Position

Carlton Senior Living is hiring a Chef to oversee daily back-of-house operations and help provide personalized care in a warm, supportive environment for older adults. The Chef plans or participates in planning menus and food and beverage utilization, taking into account the expected number of guests, marketing conditions, dish popularity, and menu frequency. The Chef plans, prepares, presents, and delivers meals for the community, including food for activities, Memory Care programming, sales, and special events, ensuring that meals are high quality and appetizing. The role also involves checking food quality daily and supporting safety protocols and emergency plans while fostering a collaborative atmosphere with residents, families, and team members.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old, per Title 22 requirements.
• Experience working with older adults or other vulnerable populations.
• Computer literacy for communication, scheduling, ordering, tracking, basic graphic design, and activities and outing research.
• Knowledge of standard cooking techniques.
• Ability to deal effectively with employees, using patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts.
• Ability to read and write reports, correspondence, memos, and employee performance evaluations.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily back-of-house operations.
• Plan or participate in planning menus and food and beverage utilization, considering expected guest numbers, marketing conditions, dish popularity, and menu frequency.
• Plan, prepare, present, and deliver meals for the community, including food for activities, Memory Care programming, sales, and special events.
• Check food quality daily by observing food rotation, presentation, and taste.
• Support safety protocols, emergency plans, and elopement prevention practices.
• Foster a warm, collaborative atmosphere with residents, families, and team members.
• Communicate, schedule, order, track, and support activities and outing research using computer tools.
