Chef/Steward

How to Manage a Small Law FirmMiami, FL
Onsite

About The Position

Long term opportunity for the right Chef/Steward with down to earth, great family, in their mid-50’s with active lifestyle and a very cool, not-bratty 10-year-old son. The boat is 87 feet, spacious, with three decks, three guest cabins, two crew cabins, and a full-time professional captain based in Ocean Reef. While this is a Chef/Steward job not a nanny job, you should enjoy being around children, answering their questions, interacting with them, and feel comfortable remaining armed with a Nerf gun most of the time. The boat is normally based in Ocean Reef, but we do have a trip planned from mid-May through mid-august (Delivery to NY & family cruise back with guests joining along the way). Plus, the occasional month-long trip to the Bahamas. The boat is not a commercial charter boat, but the family occasionally entertains clients aboard at which time an added level of formality is required. The boat is not a liveaboard, but the family lives an hour away in in Coconut Grove and uses the boat as a second home when visiting Ocean Reef. However they’re very respectful about calling ahead and on the occasion when they don’t, they understand and take responsibility for the fact that they didn’t call-ahead. During the weeks when the family is not visiting the boat (and not out of town altogether) the job would include a day or two in Coconut Grove supporting the family in their home with similar responsibilities. The family has a full-time house manager and full-time housekeeper. So, the support would mostly be chef-related and revolve around provisioning and meal preparation which may include the occasional dinner or cocktail party.
