About The Position

We are seeking a Chef/Director for our school food service program in the Sussex/Morris County, NJ area. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position with day shifts, requiring 7 to 8 hours daily. The ideal candidate will be creative with menu ideas and presentation, adhering to NSLP guidelines, and possess strong attention to detail. The role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and obtain proper documentation to work in schools. Occasional catering on weeknights and weekends may be required. This is a client-facing role, so the candidate should be personable and comfortable with regular client interactions. Some travel may be involved.

Requirements

  • Strong culinary experience is required.
  • Must obtain proper documentation to work in schools.
  • Proficient in using various forms of technology, namely Google and Microsoft products and point of sale systems.
  • ServSafe® Manager Certificate
  • Able to lift 50lbs.
  • Excellent time and people management skills needed.
  • Candidate should be personable and comfortable with regular client interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior food service management experience is ideal.
  • Creative with both presentation and new menu ideas within the guidelines of the NSLP.
  • Able to thrive in a fast pace environment.
  • Willing to work an occasional catering on a week night and weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all catering events for school.
  • Oversee staffing needs.
  • Report to Area Supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that all safety and food handling procedures are being followed.
