Chef/Assistant Culinary Director
About The Position
Fieldstone of DeWitt, part of the WellSpire community and a collaboration between WesleyLife and Genesis Health System, is a senior living community on a 14-acre campus. The Chef/Assistant Culinary Director helps lead food and beverage operations across the Bistro, household kitchens, and dining areas. Under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Director, this role supports staffing and interviews, trains and monitors team performance, and helps ensure food quality and smooth daily operations. The position also involves engaging residents in menu planning and service feedback, coordinating cleaning, and maintaining food and supply storage and inventory. The posting lists a first-shift, full-time opening, with holidays and weekends rotated or covered as needed.
Responsibilities
- Direct the overall operation of the Bistro, household kitchens, and dining areas.
- Assist with staffing schedules.
- Inspect and monitor food for visual appearance, quality, proper temperature, portion size, and dietary needs.
- Assist with the interview process under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Director.
- Train and monitor the performance of the food and beverage team.
- Seek resident involvement in menu planning and gather service feedback.
- Direct and schedule the care and cleaning of dining and kitchen areas.
- Stock and organize food and supply storage areas.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and complete physical inventory as directed.
- Perform duties of absent team members when necessary to ensure smooth operations.
