This is a coaching position for high school cheerleading at Briar Woods. The season runs from August to November. The role involves assisting in maintaining academic standards for student athletes, supporting the athletic director and principal in hiring assistant coaches, and directing, supervising, and evaluating assistant coaches. The head coach will also work cooperatively with the athletic director on insurance coverage, athletic program balance, and fostering sportsmanship and pride among participants and spectators. Responsibilities include directing training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team, leading and assisting assistant coaches, and acting as a positive influence on staff and teams. The coach must be present and direct the team at all varsity contests and as many junior varsity and freshman contests as possible, including supervision at invitational meets or postseason competitions. Additionally, the coach will advise the athletic director on schedules, officials, equipment, supplies, facility conditions, and player eligibility. Recommendations for athlete removal due to training or eligibility issues, ensuring medical examinations are passed, and organizing recruitment for tryouts and support staff are also key duties. The coach will maintain records, statistics, news items, and photographs, recommend students for letters/certificates, and recommend prospective coaches. Observing sub-varsity practices and games, and performing other duties as requested by the principal and athletic director are also part of the role.
