About The Position

Marymount School of New York seeks a Head Frosh Volleyball Coach to lead our Upper School freshman volleyball program. The ideal candidate builds strong relationships with student-athletes and colleagues, fosters a positive and inclusive team culture, and teaches the foundational skills, strategies, and habits necessary for success within the AAIS and NYSAIS athletic landscape.

Requirements

  • Previous coaching and/or competitive playing experience at the high school, club, collegiate, or youth level preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to teach volleyball fundamentals and foster skill development in a positive learning environment
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes while building a supportive and inclusive team culture
  • Commitment to supporting the educational mission of the school and providing an exceptional student-athlete experience
  • Current CPR/AED certification, concussion education training, and SafeSport certification (or ability to obtain prior to the start of the season)

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the Frosh Volleyball program, including practice planning, match management, player development, and team culture.
  • Attend and coach all practices and matches; practices are typically held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:00–5:00/5:30 p.m., with occasional Saturday commitments.
  • Teach and develop volleyball fundamentals, team systems, sportsmanship, communication, and competitive habits.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate experience for student-athletes transitioning into Upper School athletics.
  • Oversee daily program logistics, including equipment management, uniforms, match preparation, and communication with families.
  • Collaborate with the Athletics Office regarding scheduling, transportation, injuries, facilities, and student support needs.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities, including attendance, roster management, and score reporting.
  • Uphold Marymount's mission and athletic department policies while ensuring compliance with AAIS/NYSAIS rules and sportsmanship standards.
